Rs. 25,000 Fine for traffic violations

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – A paper recommending imposition of a Rs. 25,000 fine for a number of road rule violations will be presented to Cabinet this week.

Chairman of the National Council for Road Safety, Sisira Kodagoda said that the Rs. 25,000 fine will apply for drunk driving, vehicles without insurance, no driving licence and underage drivers.

He also said that a Rs. 3,000 fine will be imposed for overtaking from the left.
