General amnesty for the Sri Lankans working illegally in South Korea

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Government of South Korea has announced a three-month general amnesty for the Sri Lankans working illegally in South Korea to leave the country.

This general amnesty period is in effect from 10 July to 10 October.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has decided not to take legal action against such Sri Lankan workers, who are returning to the country during this period.

Minister of Foreign Employment, Thalatha Athukorala stated that legal action would be taken against those who continue to remain in South Korea after the elapse of the amnesty period.
