Former Sri Lanka Navy Spokesperson arrested

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Former Navy Spokesperson D. K. P. Dassanayake was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Wednesday (12) over the disappearance of 11 youth.

The youth had been reported missing between 2008 and 2009.

He would be produced in the Fort Magistrate’s Court, the Police said. Other suspects, who were arrested in connection with the incident, are in remand prison and have been further remanded till 19 July.

In 2015 the CID had questioned him over allegations that some officers in the Navy were involved in the disappearance of several youth.

Fort Magistrate’s Court had also issued a warrant for the arrest of another suspect, SLN Lieutenant Commander Prasad Hettiarachchi, who is reportedly eluding the Court.
