Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia to boost Naval ties

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne who is currently in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on an invitation of Vice Admiral Abdullah Al- Sultan, Chief of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, called on the Saudi Naval Chief at the Naval Headquarters in Riyadh on Tuesday (04).

The Sri Lanka Navy Chief also took time off to visit Royal Saudi Navy Headquarters and Office of Chief of General Staff, during this tour.

During their talks, the Naval top brass deliberated on the matters of training pertinent to the Naval Special Forces of two countries.

Mementos were also exchanged on the occasion symbolising the goodwill and the friendship of the two Navies.

In every Galle Dialogue International Maritime Seminar organised by Sri Lanka Navy, Royal Saudi Naval Forces were active participants with high level Naval delegations.

As part of this four day official visit, Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne will also visit the Port of Jeddah to tour in Royal Saudi Western Naval Fleet.
