Under President’s guidance swift measures to expand facilities for Dengue patients at Negombo Hospital

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – As per the instruction given by President Maithripala Sirisena during his observation tour to the Negombo District Hospital Wednesday (28) to inspect the activities of the hospital, the officials have taken immediate steps to broaden the required facilities to treat the Dengue patients at the hospital.

As a result of the Dengue spreading rapidly in Negambo and the surrounding areas there was congestion in the Dengue ward complex and after witnessing this congestion in the Dengue ward complex, the President directed the officials to take swift action to expand required facilities.

Hence, before 48-hours lapsed, the Sri Lanka Army took steps to construct temporary ward complex with all the facilities.

Furthermore, at present construction works taking place to build a new ward complex for the benefit of Dengue patients and under the guidance of the President, renovation work of the Special Treatment Unit of the Dengue patients is also underway.

As a solution for the staff shortage the President directed to get the assistance of the doctors and nurses of the Tri-forces and currently doctors and nurses of the Tri-forces have been deployed at the hospital. In addition to that the services of the specialist doctors have been provided.

Steps have been taken to expand the sanitary facilities for the patients as well.
