SLN Marines – US Navy continue post relief missions

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The United States (US) Navy personnel who arrived on-board USS ‘Lake Erie’, in coordination the with Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) Marines provide post Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief support activities in the flood affected areas in Western and Southern Provinces.

Accordingly, under the humanitarian assistance commenced on Monday (12), cleaned 4 schools which enabling students to continue their education smoothly. Moreover, 324 wells were cleaned providing drinking water facilities for the public and 4 bunds were renovated which were damaged due to flash flood recently.

The ship is due to set sail from the Colombo harbour on June 25, on completion of a series of post relief missions.
