“Discipline mind, body and word to make a better world” – President

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Issuing a message in lieu of Poson Poya President Maithripala Sirisena said with the King who relinquished the bow and arrow on that historic day, Sri Lanka began a path of a new life guided through the concept of the Panchasheela, non-violence, compassion and loving kindness.

The President said on that day the nation received not only the heritage of a new doctrine but also the gift of an enriched civilisation, education, literature, architecture, agriculture and the livelihood of traditions of the contemporary Mauryan kingdom of Bharat.

The Head of State called for all disciples of Buddhist teachings to determine themselves on this Poson full moon day to commit towards making a better world through the discipline of mind, body and word.
