(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Police stated that stern legal action will be taken against any individual or faction regardless of their status, if they are engaged in activities promoting hatred between ethnicities and religions.
In a communiqué, the Police Headquarters noted that if such a clash takes place, the Police Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the respective area should take full responsibility.
Police Media Spokesperson, DIG Priyantha Jayakody stated that individuals who are attempting to create such disputes through social media have now been identified and that stern legal action will be taken against them.
