Landslide warnings issued to six districts in effect

(UTV | COLOMBO) -Landslide warnings issued to residents of six districts by the National Building Research Organisation are in place till 4pm today.

Landslide warnings issued to residents of six districts by the National Building Research Organisation are in place till 4pm today.

Landslide warnings have been issued to residents of 34 Divisional Secretariat areas of the Colombo, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Galle, and Nuwara-Eliya Districts.

Level 3 (red) warnings have been issued to residents of Ingiriya, Walallawita, Palindanuwara, and the Bulathsinhala Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas in the Kalutara District.

Kalawana and Eheliyagoda Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas in the Ratnapura District and Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretariat Division in the Nuwara-Eliya District are also under Level 3 landslide warning.

Meanwhile, Agalawatta, Dodangoda, Matugama, Millaniya, Bandaragama and Horana Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas of the Kalutara District have been issued Level 2 (amber) warnings while the Warakapola, Dehiowita and Ruwanwella Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Kegalle District and Elapatha, Pelmadulla, Kuruwita, Nivithigala, Ayagama, Kiriella and Ratnapura Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Ratnapura District were also issued Level 2 warnings.

Furthermore, Seethawaka and Padukka Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Colombo District, Baddegama Divisional Secretariat Division in the Galle District, Madurawala, Beruwala, Panadura and Kalutara Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Kalutara District were issued Level 1 (yellow) warnings.
