Request from Ceylon Teachers Union

(UTV | COLOMBO) – In view of the current economic crisis in the country, the Ceylon Teachers’ Union is making a request to give a salary increase or allowance to government employees including teachers.

The general secretary of the association Mr. Joseph Stalin says that the government has not taken any steps in this regard so far.

Mr. Joseph Stalin has expressed these views while joining the representative conference to win the rights of teachers and principals.

“The country has been completely bankrupted by the government’s economic policy. Today, the people of this country cannot live. Part of the sri lankan community are the 247,000 teachers. Because of this, we have decided to make a clear decision to increase our salaries or get an allowance. There is no way for the teachers to come to the school. They have to incur serious travel expenses. We have informed the government about this.”
