One dead in Norton Bridge landslide

(UTV | COLOMBO) – One individual has died due to a landslide in Taplow in the Norton Bridge Police Division.

The landslide was reported last morning and it is said that the mound earth had collapsed on to two houses.

The remains of the deceased were found in one of the houses. He was identified as a 39-year-old resident of Widulipura, Taplow.

The body has been kept at the morgue of the Nawalapitiya District General Hospital.

Police said 17 individuals from eight families have been displaced due to the landslide and have been relocated to a centre in Norton Bridge.
