Fifty percent of private buses will function today – Unions

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association says 50 percent of private buses will be operational today to facilitate the transportation of school children.

President of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne said they hope to gradually increase the number of buses in operation, if diesel is provided under an efficient program.

He assured, students will have means of transportation today, when the new school term begins.

Wijeratne assured that an efficient service will be provided, despite shortcomings on certain bus routes.

He said individuals will be able to travel in buses today, without facing inconveniences.

Gemunu Wijeratne claimed an efficient and continuous fuel supply will enable bus owners to operate close to 13,000 buses daily.
