“The Walking Dead” wraps final season

(UTV | GEORGIA) –  Production on the eleventh and final season of AMC’s long-lived zombie series “The Walking Dead” has wrapped in Georgia.

The series has been filming, on and off, since May 2010 and has seen countless character deaths, multiple showrunner changes, ratings and critical opinion both surge and dwindle, and more.

Current showrunner Angela Kang among others has posted on social media from the set confirming it was the last day of filming with videos and photos of the cast and crew marking the occasion all over Twitter today.

The show will be survived by its expanding universe of spinoffs, including the already finished “The Walking Dead: World Beyond”, the ongoing “Fear the Walking Dead”, and the various upcoming works like the anthology series “Tales of the Walking Dead”, the Maggie & Negan-led “The Isle of The Dead”, a Daryl & Carol-led series, and several Rick Grimes’ movies.

The current eleventh season consists of three batches of eight episodes. The first ran from August-October last year. The second began on February 20th and will finish up next Sunday on April 10th. The third and final batch is expected to air this Fall.
