What I wrote about ‘The Kashmir Files’ came from the heart says Yami Gautam

(UTV | INDIA) – Yami Gautam came out in support of Anupam Kher’s and director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files.

Yesterday, Yami Gautam came out in support of Anupam Kher’s and director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files as she posted a strong message on Twitter.

Reporters met the actress today and posed her a question about her strong feelings for the film that highlights the dark history of Kashmiri Pandits and the atrocities that they suffered in Kashmir.

A visibly passionate Yami said, “We are all pretty aware of the subject of the film and I actually meant every word that I wrote on Twitter.”

She went on to add the fact that her husband and filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s family and roots exposed her to the history of Kashmiri Pandits.

She said, “Having been married to a Kashmiri Pandit, and having interacted with so many of them by the virtue of our relationship, I have gotten to know so many of their stories. And when you get to know that there is a film out there, which talks about what happened back then, it becomes important to support the cause. Of course, we were very young at the time when all that happened, so there is no personal memory attached, but when now you hear such stories, and being a part of the fraternity, you realise how important this film is. People are so emotional about this film and they are feeling so strongly and deeply about it. So why not come out and support it and talk about it and express ourselves. What I wrote about The Kashmir Files on social media came from the heart.”

Yesterday, Yami had shared husband Aditya Dhar’s comment on the film and added her own words that stated, “Being married to a Kashmiri Pandit, I know first hand of the atrocities that this peace-loving community has gone through. But majority of the nation is still unaware. It took us 32 years and a film to get to know the truth. Please watch and support #TheKashmirFiles.”
