Albie Morkel joins Bangladesh as power-hitting coach

(UTV | BANGLADESH) – Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed Albie Morkel as power-hitting batting coach for the ODI series against South Africa.

Morkel is the second South African who has been appointed by BCB within the last two weeks with Allan Donald taking up the role of the pace bowling coach earlier.

BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed the development on Tuesday adding that the allrounder has already started working with the side. “He is a very experienced campaigner and we feel that our batters will be helped with his coaching,” he said.

Bangladesh’s coaching setup is going through an overhaul with Jamie Siddons also joining the side as batting coach earlier. This is for the first time Bangladesh is appointing a power-hitting batting coach. Bangladesh have been struggling with power-hitting and this aspect has been considered as their weakest link in limited-overs cricket.
