Gampaha loses a Parliamentary seat, Jaffna gains one

(UTV | COLOMBO) – According to the electoral registration, one Parliamentary seat has been reduced from the Gampaha District.

Accordingly, seats allocated to the district reduced from 19 to 18.

Issuing a statement the National Election Commission said one Parliament seat will be added to the Jaffna District, increasing the total seats from six to seven.

The Election Commission that convened yesterday decided to issue a Gazette Notification detailing the number of Parliamentarians that will be elected from each district at the next election.
