Govt gears to turn off street lights to save electricity

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A proposal to turn off street lights as a measure to save electricity.

A proposal to turn off street lights as a measure to save electricity is due to be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers today. The proposal will be tabled by Minister of Power Gamini Lokuge, when the Cabinet of Ministers convenes today.

Minister Lokuge said a proposal will be tabled to either turn off street lights from 6.30pm to 11pm and turn on the lights after 11pm or to have street lights turned on from 6.30pm to 10pm and turn off the lights after 10pm.
