Scheduled power cuts from tomorrow

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Joint Trade Union Alliance Convener of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Ranjan Jayalal stated that the power supply will be cut off for 4 hours from next Friday.

He warned even though it was decided to have a one-hour power cut from tomorrow, it will have to be extended to two hours.

He stated that this process can only continue until next Friday.

He pointed out that after Friday, the CEB will definitely have to resort to a 4-hour power cut.

Furthermore, he also warned that hydropower plants are operating at full capacity despite the current drought-free weather in the country.

He warned that due to this, it will not be possible to release drinking water and water required for agriculture in the future.

Ranjan Jayalal expressed these views while addressing the media this morning (23).
