Station Masters to meet Transport State Minister

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Association is scheduled to hold talks with State Minister of Transport

The Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Association is scheduled to hold talks with State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama at 3pm today, over ongoing trade union action. The Station Masters are currently staging indefinite trade union action. Chairman of the Association Sumedha Somaratne said they expect to end all union action if a satisfactory solution is provided by the State Minister of Transport at today’s discussion.

Somaratne said they expect to provide uninterrupted transportation services considering the passengers adding however unfortunately they will have to overlook the inconveniences caused to the public if solutions are not provided. He claimed that the General Manager of railways is avoiding addressing their concerns.

Sumedha Somaratne hoped the GM will change his outlook on the situation after today’s talks. He commented that leaders of two unions allied to the General Manager, continue to oppose the strike despite members wanting to join. Somaratne hoped solutions would be reached at today’s talks despite many false news circulated about him.
