Officials yet to respond to strike action

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Government Medical Officers Association says relevant authorities have failed to respond despite being informed of the island wide strike action that was launched yesterday based on seven demands.

Member of the GMOA Dr. Prasad Ranaweera speaking at a media briefing said the President and Prime Minister must intervene and provide a solution to their concerns.

Dr. Ranaweera informed the public that emergency services will be provided at all hospitals, despite the ongoing trade union action.

He added only OPD services will be halted during the strike. Dr. Ranaweera said children’s hospitals, maternity hospitals, the cancer hospital, kidney hospital, and obstetrics and gynaecology hospitals will continue to operate.
