Vagaries of war caused production of honey to cease in Yemen

(UTV | YEMEN) – The seven-year-long war in Yemen has cast a shadow over the Yemeni beekeepers, prompting some of them to leave the profession and seek employment in other fields with a meaningful level of wage.

Beekeepers encounter difficulty in moving to the bee pastures throughout Yemeni’s governorates, due to the ongoing fighting between the conflicting parties, and the presence of hundreds of checkpoints on the roadways.

The shortage of oil derivatives also imposed a significant extra burden on beekeepers, resulting in a drop in the production of Yemeni honey, the best in the world, by 50% due to the war and its impact, leading to a decline in its existence and a decrease in its quality as well.
