Special discussion in search of ‘Sugar’ solution

(UTV | COLOMBO) – State Minister of Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated at the media briefing that discussions will be held with importers today (26) and tomorrow (27) regarding the import of the required amount of sugar to the country.

The Sugar Importers’ Association stated that despite the permission to import, it is not possible to import sugar due to the shortage of dollars in the country.

In such a background a shortage of sugar has been created in the market for several days and it is reported that a kilogram of sugar is being sold at a price of around Rs. 170.
