(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Our Power of People Party has informed the Election Commission that Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera has been removed from the party.
Chairman of the National Election Commission Nimal Punchihewa said the Party Secretary informed the Commission of this regard in writing yesterday.
Ven. Rathana Thera was accused of acting against the decisions of the party and undermining public trust in the party.
The party had taken the decision to remove him, as Ven. Rathana Thera did not participate in a disciplinary inquiry of the Party.
With this development, Rathana Thera faces the risk of losing his seat in Parliament.
