NGOs to protest against the Chinese-assimilation policy in Inner Mongolia

(UTV | MONGOLIA) – In recent years, the Chinese government has made a sharp shift to the policy of assimilation of national minorities.

An example of this is the government’s intensive promotion of classical Chinese culture, its sharp rise in Han nationalism, and its restrictions on the languages, cultures, and religions of the Tibetan and Uighur minorities.

Recently, 160 Mongolian non-governmental organizations joined a global call to boycott the Beijing Olympics in protest of China’s dissolution policy in Inner Mongolia by implementing its recent self-assimilation policy of Tibet and Xinjiang in Inner Mongolia and seeking to remove Mongolian history from the school curriculum, in addition to the demolition of a statue of a Mongolian scholar, according to reports.
