CCD takes investigations into the discovery of hand grenade

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Investigations into the discovery of a hand grenade at a private hospital in Narahenpita have been handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division.

The Narahenpita Police is also conducting an investigation into the incident. Police said an extensive investigation has been launched while CCTV footage is being utilised to identify the individual who brought the hand grenade into the hospital premises, that was discovered yesterday.

The grenade was attached to a mosquito coil in a toilet on the first floor of the hospital.

Statements were recorded from three individuals including a hospital employee over the incident.

Police presence was beefed up yesterday in and around the hospital following the incident.
