Nearly 500 arrested for violating quarantine regulations

(UTV | COLOMBO) – In the last 24 hours, 498 persons along with 42 vehicles have been arrested for violating quarantine regulations.

The Police Media Division stated that 62,085 persons have been arrested so far for violating quarantine regulations issued to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They noted that 13 blockades have been set up at 13 entry and exit points to the Western Province.

Accordingly, 639 persons travelling in 316 vehicles were inspected at the exit from the Western Province and 1,153 persons travelling in 489 vehicles were inspected at the entry to the Western Province.
