Mobile vendors should be fully vaccinated

(UTV | COLOMBO) – It has been decided to restrict mobile trading activities in the Colombo District on the days when the quarantine curfew is in effect only to traders who have taken both doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne said yesterday (25) that it has been decided to take legal action under the quarantine rules if persons who have not taken both doses engage in mobile trading.

He was speaking at a media briefing organized by the Government Information Department yesterday (25) to raise awareness about the public welfare in the Colombo District during the Quarantine Curfew.

Meegoda, Narahenpita, Ratmalana and Bokundara Economic Centres are open to provide essential food items to the people during the quarantine period without any hindrance and a total of 12, 294 mobile vendors and 1,489 wholesale outlets have been registered covering all 13 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Colombo District and 2,345 distribution routes have been identified, he said.

He said that more than 90 per cent of the population in the Colombo district has been given at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and that every person over the age of 60 who has not yet been vaccinated will be vaccinated in the next few days.
