PM instructs to take immediate action to conserve water catchment areas

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage to take immediate steps to conserve water catchment areas in parallel with the acceleration of projects to provide drinking water to the people islandwide.

He was participating in a discussion with officials of the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage at Temple Trees yesterday (28).

Accordingly, the Prime Minister further instructed the officials including the Water Supply and Drainage Minister to formulate a joint program with the Ministry of Environment to protect the water catchment areas and protect those areas, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
