Sri Lanka – UK discuss friendly cricket match between MPs of two Parliaments

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Saroja Sirisena and Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle recently discussed the possibility of a friendly cricket match between the Parliament members of the two countries.

High Commissioner Sirisena, who called on the Speaker of the House of Commons recently, had suggested an exchange of visits between legislatures of the two countries.

They both agreed that a friendly cricket match between the members of the two Parliaments would be a fine opportunity to celebrate shared love of cricket, the High Commission of Sri Lanka in London said.

The officials also discussed the importance of strengthening bilateral relationships between the two countries, especially in trade, investment, tourism people to people contacts, education and cooperation of the legislatures of the two countries.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner Samantha Pathirana at the meeting.
