CBS cancels the “MacGyver” reboot

(UTV | COLOMBO) – CBS has abruptly cancelled its reboot of “MacGyver,” the announcement coming just weeks ahead of the current fifth season finale which now serves as the series finale.

Lucas Till leads the series which comes to a close on April 30th. A CBS spokesperson says: “We’re gratified we get to give this dedicated and loyal fan base the opportunity to say goodbye to their favorite characters in the thoughtful manner this series deserves.”

Showrunner Monica Macer took over the series last year after creator Peter Lenkov was fired following allegations of workplace toxicity. Tristin Mays, Justin Hires, Meredith, Levy Tran and Henry Ian Cusick starred.

This marks the third CBS series to announce a sudden close out this year following “Mom” and “NCIS: New Orleans”. The shows are being replaced by confirmed new series like “CSI: Vegas,” “FBI: International” and a Hawaiian-set “NCIS” spin-off.
