(UTV | COLOMBO) – Sony has released photos of the hand controllers for the 2nd iteration of the PSVR (PlayStation Virtual Reality) system – this one designed for the PS5 console and expected to arrive in 2022 or 2023.
While the updated headset, new features and games remain under wraps, the controllers have now been detailed. The original of course used the old PS Move wands with a glowing ball on each end.
The new controllers are more akin to the Oculus Quest 2, albeit with slightly larger and more elaborate wrist protection / tracking, and is designed to reduce constraint on hand movement with better ergonomics and balance.
They will also include 2 of the key features of the PS5’s DualSense controllers – namely haptic feedback and adaptive triggers – along with finger touch detection.
The new headset is expected to have a single cord set-up to improve ease-of-use along with better resolution, field of view, tracking and input. It is likely to be unveiled later in the year.
