“Sonic the Hedgehog 2” begins production

Production has officially begun on “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” the sequel to last year’s successful film adaptation of the SEGA game franchise.

Several members of the cast are set to return for the sequel, including Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Jim Carrey in the role of Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski and Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski. The sequel will also see beloved character Tails on-screen.

Jeff Fowler, who directed the first film, is directing the sequel and broke the news today on Twitter. Even with the pandemic impacting its run, the original film still managed to haul in $319 million at the worldwide box-office.
