Netflix’s smash hit mini-series “The Queen’s Gambit” is set to become a stage musical.
Level Forward has acquired the theatrical stage rights to Walter Tevis’ original novel, the second time one of his works has also become and film and stage show – the other being “The Man Who Fell to Earth”.
The story centers on Beth Harmon, an orphan who discovers she is a chess prodigy. We follow her journey from Kentucky to Paris to Moscow, while she battles addiction and the prejudices of a male-centered world.
The miniseries recently swept the limited series/telemovie category at the Golden Globes and remains one of the streamer’s most successful scripted ventures to date.
