Decline in COVID-19 across Colombo

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A notable decline in levels of COVID-19 infections in Colombo in recent weeks, state the Health Officials from the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) tracking the pandemic.

Among from an estimated 250 random PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and Antigen Tests being conducted, an average 1 or 2 people were testing positive in comparison to the average 70 or 80 positives, the Daily Mirror quoted the Chief Medical Officer of the CMC, Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni.

Admitting that the number of random PCR and Antigen Tests conducted across the City of Colombo, following the launch of the mass vaccination programme since February, was lesser than what was conducted before the vaccinations started, Dr. Wijemuni however said that testing was ongoing in high risk areas and in populated areas.
