Final decision on COVID-19 vaccine for Sri Lanka today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A final decision pertaining to recommending a vaccine for COVID-19 mitigation in Sri Lanka is reportedly due to be reached today (04).

The national vaccination plan compiled by the Ministry of Health will be handed over to Lalith Weeratunga, Senior Advisor to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who was assigned to oversee the coordination process of importing the vaccine, following which a final decision will be reached.

Sri Lanka is presently discussing whether to import the Pfizer vaccine from the United States (US), Oxford-AstraZeneca from Britain or Sputnik V vaccine from Russia.
