Supreme Court dismisses petitions on university cut off marks

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Supreme Court today (23) dismissed the Fundamental Rights (FR) Petitions filed pertaining to the university cut off marks of the 2019 Advanced Level (A/L) Examination.

The Petitions were filed by a group of 40 students who sat the 2019 A/L Examination under the new syllabus.

The petitioners claimed they passed the chemistry, mathematics, and physics subjects at the examination under the new syllabus, and charge that there is a wide gap in the university cut off marks of the old and new syllabus.

The petitioners stated they were faced with an injustice and cited their fundamental rights were violated and called for an equal or fair cut off marks for both groups of students to be announced.
