(UTV | COLOMBO) – 319 individuals have been arrested on drug related charges and other charges, during special raids carried out in the Western Province.
The raids were carried out between 6am yesterday and 5 this morning.
The Office of the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police of the Western Province said the highest number of arrests was made over the possession of heroin with 125 persons being arrested and over 1.9kg of heroin being seized during the special operation.
One female suspect and two male suspects were arrested with more than 1kg of heroin in Boralesgamuwa.
Meanwhile 115 persons were arrested over the possession of illicit liquor and goda, 56 persons were arrested over the possession of marijuana and 12 persons were arrested for the possession of ICE.
11 individuals were also arrested during other raids.
