Rajitha highlights severe lack of eyeglass lenses

UTV | COLOMBO – Former Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne has charged that with the exception of the National Hospital, all other hospitals are experiencing a severe shortage of lenses for eyeglasses.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the office of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Senaratne stressed that this was the present state of health services in the country today.

He therefore urged the government to allocate funds for public healthcare, adding that patients who have been prescribed long term pharmaceutical drugs will pass away prematurely, if they do not have their medicine.

The former Minister claimed that all stocks of medicine that he brought down to the country during his tenure are over and stocks are not being replenished.

The former Health Minister therefore stressed that the issue must be resolved promptly; as it is not a political matter, but a matter of life and death for the people.
