145,373 PCR tests conducted thus far

UTV | COLOMBO – The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 says one new coronavirus patient was reported during the past 24-hour period.

The number of coronavirus cases in the country stands at 2,753, after a returnee from Saudi Arabia, who was housed at a quarantine centre, tested positive for the virus yesterday.

The number of COVID-19 recoveries rose to 2,077 after 13 more individuals recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Six of the recoveries were persons who returned from overseas while the other seven individuals were cases identified within the country.

665 persons are undergoing medical treatment for COVID-19 while another 101 suspected cases remain under medical observation.

The Centre also stated that 13 individuals arrived in the island on flight QR-668 from Doha, Qatar, while 30 persons arrived on board flight TST-9037 from Chennai, India today.

The group will be directed to quarantine centres by the Tri-Forces after PCR tests.

Meanwhile, 14 individuals who completed quarantine measures at the Diyagama quarantine centre operated by the Army, will be released today.

The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 added 25,794 individuals have thus far completed quarantine measures while 4,535 persons continue to undergo quarantine at 44 centres operated by the Tri-Forces.

The Centre also stated that 1,380 PCR tests were conducted yesterday with a total of 145,373 tests conducted since the 18th of February.
