‘COVID-19 won’t spread through polling centres’

UTV | COLOMBO – Chairman of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya has guaranteed that the novel coronavirus will not spread through polling centres in any manner.

The Election Commission and health units reached an agreement on steps that should be taken in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through polling centres at the General Election, following lengthy discussions last evening.

Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said several crucial decisions were made, while discussions were held in order to ensure a successful election with the support of health units.

Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Lakshman Gamlath who also attended the discussion said the manner in which health guidelines related to the General Election will be implemented was also discussed.
