Public must vote intelligently – Duminda

UTV | COLOMBO – Former Parliamentarian Duminda Dissanayake says the public must reach an intelligent decision when selecting candidates who will become representatives of Parliament.

Speaking at a public gathering in Anuradhapura, the former MP said no one has the right to influence the people on who they should not vote for, adding votes cannot be forcefully given or taken.

Dissanayake pointed out that although the public were fed up of Parliamentarians, all 225 MPs cannot be painted with the same brush stroke and do not deserve to be criticised for the actions of a few.

He therefore stressed that voters must cast their ballot to vote in hard working individuals, who are in touch with the public.

He urged voters to ensure they cast their vote for individuals who will develop the country.
