Confirmed COVID-19 cases rise to 2,646

UTV | COLOMBO – The number of coronavirus cases reported from the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre has increased to 519 after 257 more persons from the centre tested positive yesterday.

The Government Information Department said 14 of them are associates of inmates of the centre while 11 of them were from the Senapura centre.

Accordingly, 440 inmates of the Kandakadu and Senapura centres, 47 staff members, and 32 associates of those who tested positive from the centre are among the cases.

The number of coronavirus infections rose to 2,646 after 29 new patients were recorded yesterday with 652 active COVID-19 cases receiving treatment.

The number of recoveries is presently at 1,981 while 112 individuals who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.

The Director General of Health Services yesterday announced that movement within Track 1, 3 and 5 of Rajanganaya will be prohibited.
