Defence Sec. vows not to let coronavirus spread

UTV | COLOMBO – Secretary of Defence Retired Major General Kamal Gunaratne has vowed not to let the coronavirus spread further in Sri Lanka.

Speaking at a function yesterday, the Defence Secretary praised the efforts and sacrifice of security forces and healthcare workers to control the previous spread of COVID-19.

The Defence Secretary reiterated the forces personnel and healthcare workers had many sleepless nights for the greater good.

He further stressed the forces must come together to prevent organised crime, as drug kingpins are hiding within prisons and operating large-scale drug rackets worth millions in the country.

The Retired Major General said he was looking forward to eradicating an environment where the people have to live in fear and pay extortions.
