Angulana shooting: Suspect died from head injuries

UTV | COLOMBO – The post-mortem examination of the suspect who succumbed to injuries when shot at by the Angulana Police in Lunawa, Moratuwa, has revealed that the cause of death was a blow to the head.

The post-mortem was conducted yesterday at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.

The body has been handed over to relatives.

The suspect who was shot at by Police on Friday night at the Lunawa roadblock was identified as a 39-year-old fisherman.

A heated situation broke out when area residents gathered opposite the Angulana Police Station yesterday in protest to the shooting.

On the advice of the Secretary of Defence, the Acting IGP has ordered a special investigation by the Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of the Mount Lavinia Division.
