Navy launches Maritime Doctrine of Sri Lanka

UTV | COLOMBO – Marking another first in Sri Lankan history, the Navy launched the Maritime Doctrine of Sri Lanka at the Navy Headquarters, under the auspices of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva yesterday.

Sri Lanka Navy in a statement said the Navy compiled the publication as a guide to understanding the nature of Sri Lanka Navy’s maritime power and the manner it can be applied in pursuit of national interests.

The Navy Commander at yesterday’s launch highlighted that the Maritime Doctrine of Sri Lanka will shape the broad contours of employment of maritime power and the Navy’s nurturing of a stable environment at sea.

He said this will be a vital frame of reference to other interested partners across the military.
