Returnee in Jinthupitiya, Col-13 tested COVID-19 positive

(UTV | COLOMBO) – An individual, a resident of Jinthupitiya, Colombo 13, who arrived in the island from India and was quarantined at his residence for 14 days has tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual, employed as a sea merchant, had arrived in the island, underwent quarantine for 14 days and was directed to self-quarantine for another 14 days.

He was directed home after testing negative to PCR testing.

The Government Information Department said the individual testing positive for the coronavirus during his 14 days at home is not indication of communal transmission.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the individual is considered to be a patient who tested positive while in quarantine.

The Government Information Department said necessary steps will be taken by security forces.

Meanwhile 143 persons from 29 families form the area in Jinthupitiya, Colombo-13 have been directed to undergo quarantine at the Kandakadu isolation facility, following the confirmation of the returnee testing positive for COVID-19 at his residence.
