Election Commission is bias- Wimal Weerawansa

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Minister Wimal Weerawansa claims that the National Election Commission is enacting laws in favour of the opposition ahead of the 2020 Parliamentary Election.

Speaking during a public gathering today, Minister Weerawansa said the Commission is bias towards the opposition and trying to destabilise the campaign of the government.

He said the current opposition is in disarray and noted that those who were part of the previous good governance government are struggling to even stage rallies.

The Minister said the Election Commission has prevented contestants from displaying their preferential numbers or any other posters within registered election offices citing the COVID-19 crisis.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa is of the view that the Election Commission is attempting to dilute the campaign of the government through the introduction of new regulations to help the opposition parties who have failed to garner the support of the public.
