9 arrested over damaging CCTV cameras released

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The nine university students arrested for damaging the CCTV cameras of the University of Kelaniya, amounting to a loss of more than Rs.2.6 million, were released on bail yesterday.

The order was issued by the Mahara Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Each student was released on surety bail of Rs.500,000 each.

The CCTV cameras were damaged on the 24th of February.

Police arrested the nine students on Monday evening.
