23 new COVID-19 cases; Total rises to 1,947

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The number of coronavirus cases in the country rose to 1,947 after 23 new cases were recorded yesterday.

18 returnees from Dubai tested positive yesterday.

Among the 23 cases were two returnees from Qatar who were housed at the Ampara quarantine centre, one returnee from London who tested positive while at the Rajagiriya quarantine centre and another returnee from Russia who was housed at the Pitipana quarantine facility.

515 active coronavirus cases are being treated. 901 Navy personnel are among the COVID-19 infections while 688 Lankan returnees are also among the cases.

61 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.

The number of COVID-19 recoveries is presently at 1,421.

24 individuals were discharged yesterday after making a complete recoveries.
