(UTV | UVA) – The Navy apprehended a person with 860 grams of local cannabis, during a coordinated operation conducted with the Police in Thanamalwila yesterday (15).
The Navy has been conducting regular anti-drug operations island wide to wage its war on drug smuggling. During a similar operation conducted in coordination with the Police Special Task Force (STF) in Sooriyawewa, the Navy was able to apprehend the suspect in possession of 860 grams of local cannabis. Accordingly, the 44-year-old suspect who is a resident of the same locality was taken into custody.
The apprehended person along with local cannabis in his possession was handed over to the Thanamalwila Police for onward investigation.
